How To Prepare Onion Tea For Curing Cough

Simply put, a cough is a common reflex action that clears the throat of mucus or foreign irritants. Coughing to clear the throat is typically an infrequent action, although there are a number of conditions that can cause more frequent bouts of coughing. In general, a cough that lasts for less than three weeks is an acute cough. There are several reasons why you cough, including colds, flu, allergies, asthma, and pneumonia.

Needless to say, everybody coughs and it is therefore a normal occurrence. However, if you continue to cough for more than a week, you should visit a doctor right away. If you have phobia for doctors or decide to wait though, here’s a cough remedy that can help get rid of your cough within 24 hours (sometimes less).

The good thing is, the ingredients are quite simple, affordable and easy to get! Its a simple onion tea that can help you reduce or remove the cough. 
Here's what you need:
- Three liters of water 
- One kilo of onions

  And here are the steps to follow to get your onion tea ready:

1. Prepare the onions by getting rid of the mustache. Wash them all well.  
2. Cut the onions into quarters. 
3. Put the three liters of water in a pot. 
4. Add the onions in the pot. 
5. Let the water boil until half of it (1.5 liters) evaporates. 
6. Let the water cool. 
7. Strain the onions.
8. Serve cool. Note that putting it in the refrigerator will not help your cough because you actually need to stay away from cold drinks.
9. For better taste, you can add a spoonful of honey and juice from half a lemon.

Now, that's a simple home made remedy for your cough. So, don’t let your child or anyone suffer from the dreaded cough. Simply prepare the onion tea and pass it round to those who have the cough and even those who just want to take it! Make sure you consume at least 250 ml of the tea once-twice a day. The next day, your coughing will either lessen or completely go away.

Here's another recipe for a persistent cough also prepared with Onions. You will need:  
- Two onions 
- Two apples 
- 11 walnuts 
- Three liters of water

To prepare the tea, follow these steps:
  1. Remove the onion’s mustache. Wash well.
  2. Cut the onion into four pieces.
  3. Wash the apples.
  4. Cut them into four pieces as well.
  5. After washing the walnuts, crush them.
  6. Ready a pot with the three liters of water.
  7. Add the ingredients over the water.
  8. Let the water boil, but don’t turn off the heat until half of the water disappears.
  9. Allow the water to cool down.
  10. Strain to remove the other ingredients.

There you have it, your onion is ready to cure your cough. Just like the first tea recipe, drink 250 ml of this tea for up to twice a day. You can sweeten it by adding lemon and honey.

These two recipes, along with some other cough tea recipes that use onions, are effective because the ingredients are natural fighters of cough and cold. Onions, most especially, are great for boosting the immune system because of its richness in vitamin C. They also contain antioxidants that not only help keep you healthy, but also protect the body against free radicals that may cause cell damage.
