Herbal Remedies To Control Diabetes

Diabetes is a metabolic disease in which the body’s inability to produce any or enough insulin causes elevated levels of glucose in the blood.

Today, diabetes is a common disease among many people, especially older people. Diabetes can be cause by many things (a post is coming up for that) and its prevention and treatment should be inscribed on the heart o ff everyone who wishes to live a healthy life.

Diabetes can cause a lot of thing, especially a drastic change in dieting plans. Anyone with diabetes is always not allowed to eat everything they come across. So, preventing it should be everyone’s priority. But on the other hand, if you have got it already; here are some amazing natural remedies to control diabetes and some tips on taking them:

1. Neem:

The bitter leaves and seeds of the neem plant are beneficial for diabetes patients. It is an Ayurvedic herb for improving glucose level. It has an anti-fungal property which reduces insulin requirements by up to 50%.
Take a teaspoon of Neem powder and glass of water. Mix it and drink it in the morning and evening and before going to bed.

2. Mulberry:

It is an Ayurvedic medicine used for lowering the blood sugar level. Daily intake of mulberry leaves for at least fifteen days causes about 38% reduction in the sugar level.

3. Bitter gourd:

Bitter gourd also known as bitter melon can be used for controlling diabetes. It tends to boost the glucose metabolism all over your body. Regular intake of bitter gourd fruit pulp helps in regenerating pancreatic beta cells and reverses pancreatic damage. Thereby, increases insulin secretion.

4. Fenugreek Seeds:

Fenugreek seeds are rich in fiber which slows down the absorption of sugars and carbohydrates. Daily consumption of about 1gm of fenugreek seed extracts could definitely reduce the glucose level in the blood within two months.
Soak two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water all night. In the morning, drink the water along with the seeds on an empty stomach. Repeat this remedy for a few months. Another way is to eat two tablespoons of powdered fenugreek seeds regularly with milk.

5. Indian Gooseberry (Amla):

Amla may refer to Indian gooseberry. Amla raw or juice is rich in vitamin C which stimulates proper functioning of your pancreas.

Curry leaves have anti-diabetic properties which are useful in controlling and preventing diabetes. It contains an ingredient that minimizes the rate at which starch is broken down to glucose in diabetics.
Chew about 10 fresh curry leaves daily in the morning. Continue it for 3-4 months for best results.

7. Basil:

Basil is considered holy and has been used by many people from the ancient times. Its medicinal properties include anti-fungal, gastric anti-ulcer, antioxidant, anti-viral, anti-stress, anti-asthmatic, antibacterial, anti-tumor, anti-mutagenic and immuno-stimulant.
Extract the juice from the leaves of tulsi plant. Consume it daily. Eating fresh leaves from the garden after washing has positive effects on the body.

8. Aloe vera:

Aloe vera gel helps lower fasting blood glucose levels and is helpful for controlling blood sugar.
Take 1 tablespoon of turmeric, aloe vera and bay leaves. Mix them together. Ingest it twice daily, before lunch and dinner.

9. Cinnamon:

Cinnamon contains bioactive components that can help fight diabetes well. In cases of uncontrolled diabetes, it works as a great option to lower blood sugar levels by boosting insulin activity.

10. Mango Leaves:

The soft mango leaves can do wonders in the case of curing diabetes. It also enhances blood lipid profiles.
Soak 10 to 15 tender mango leaves in a glass of water all night. Filter the water and drink it on an empty stomach every morning. Alternatively, consume one and a half teaspoon of powdered mango leaves twice daily.

11. Guava:

Guava is high in fiber content and vitamin C. Eating guava helps in maintaining the blood sugar level.
Peel the guava and make slices. Consume it daily.

12. Ladyfinger:

Ladyfinger has polyphenolic molecules that cut off diabetes. So you should include it in your diet as well.
Cut off the ends of a few lady fingers. Prick them using a fork. Soak them in a glass of water overnight. Drink that water on an empty stomach in the morning. Repeat this daily for a few weeks.

13. Garlic:

Garlic is a common item used in the kitchen. It has an ingredient known as Allicin which has the anti-diabetic effect. Taking it raw or in your meal is strongly advised.

14. Beans:

Beans retard the digestion process thereby preventing the increase of glucose in the blood. Beans are good for the stomach as well. Beans can be, green beans, regular beans etc. Just be sure you take it regularly.

15. Jamun:

The Jamun leaves are useful in reducing the blood sugar levels. Approximately, 100 grams of this fruit daily can do wonders. Try it out.

16. Papaya:

Papaya is rich in vitamin C, anti-oxidants along with carotenes and flavonoids. It has many benefits on our health and controls blood sugar. It is advised to consume papaya daily.

17. Flax seeds:

Flax seeds are rich in fiber content. It properly absorbs fats and sugars which make our digestion stronger. Consuming flaxseed lowers sugar level up to 28 %.
Consume one tablespoon of flaxseed powder every morning on an empty stomach with a glass of warm water.
Note: More than 2 tablespoons per day can be harmful to health.
