How To Prepare Smoothies You Will Love
Since my experience with watermelon martini at my Aunt’s place, I’ve unimaginably fallen in love with martinis and smoothies. I so love them that I actually went back to her to tap some smoothies knowledge which I’m going to share with you now!
Here are some smoothies (and their preparation) I bet you will love to try out:
PINEAPPLE
& AFRICAN APPLE (AGBALUMO) SMOOTHIE
Well, we all know pineapple and I bet we also know the popular agbalumo also
called African apple {I still don’t know if that’s true though}. I bet you
never imagined these two could be eaten together let alone be blended into a
smoothie! Well, relax as I take your taste buds on a ride!
Here’s
what you need:
- 1 Large well ripened pineapple
- 500ml clean water
- Some honey
- 1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon (can be gotten in any food store or mall)
- For garnish, thinly slice one of the African apples (agbalumo) and banana
Method:
- Peel and remove the flesh of the agbalumo.
- Coat with some honey for at least 3 days before use; this helps to reduce the
harshness of the taste of the fruit.
- Wash and peel the pineapple and chop into large chunks.
- Place the pineapple chunks in a blender, add the ceylon cinnamon and add some
of the honey coated African apple.
- Add the water.
- Blend all ingredients together and strain using a fine sieve. Strain twice to
get a really smooth blend with no bits from the fruits.
- To serve, place some of the African apple slices in a glass, with some ice,
then pour over the drink and enjoy.
OMG! I can feel the taste in your mouth already! Lol
That’s one down! Next is
THE
MIXED FRUITS/VEGETABLES SMOOTHIE
Like the name, its just a combination of some fruits and vegetables. This is
also called a flush out smoothie which can also serve as a laxative. It is very
good for washing out all the party junks you may have consumed especially after
a festive period.
Note
that you can pick or add any food combination of your choice. For my own
smoothie, I am using these fruits and vegetables:
Apple
Lime
Cucumber
Celery
Home made ginger juice
Spinach
Method
- Always ensure that your fruits & vegetables are clean and washed properly
to avoid sucking on sand via a straw or anything.
- Place your spinach in the blender, add your base and blend for 1minute.
- Add your other fruits and vegetables.
- Blend everything together.
- Then add anything else you feel you need.
- Get it out of the blender and sieve.
- Squeeze out the juice.
- Serve minutes (or even hours) after your meal.
If you are my kind of person whose stomach is always running after eating a party meal, just get a tissue or wipe handy and make sure the toilet is vacant for the whole day because you never know when you would hit it.
Here comes my favourite. Next is smoothie for
babies:
BANANA + PINEAPPLE + SPINACH SMOOTHIE
Everyone wants a smoothie and so do little

1/2 cup water
Method:
- Please ensure your fruits are clean before
blending.
- Put the spinach and fruits in the smoothie
maker (or blender) and blend.
- Sieve them all
- Add any extra ingredient you wish
- Pour the juice in your babies bottle and
feed.
Trust me, your baby must love this!
Here is another smoothie for your baby.
Apple Cinnamon Smoothie
This smoothie is so easy all you need is a
jar and:
Add the ingredients to a jar. Put a lid on
and shake well. Then get your baby and get down to some feeding.
Woah..,, yummy!!
