How To Prepare Banana Cake

Okay, here is another food knowledge I want to share! If you have been following my food/diet category on this blog, I’m pretty sure you would have learnt enough to start your own fancy food business or simply treat your family to a mouth watering dishes/meals!

Today, I’m going to share one of my favourites! I just love cakes, and best of all, there's actually a lot of ways you can prepare your own cake. From plain cake to red velvet (which I'll be giving out the recipe soon) to fruit cakes and the list is endless. Unlike other foods that have few varieties, cakes are something you can just wake up to conjure any variety. So, I am going to be showing you a simple way to prepare lovely, yummy, mouth watering banana cakes! Trust me, you must love it! Imagine combining the sweet, sugary, refreshing taste of banana with that of your cake! I’m already salivating!

Tip:  Whenever you have overripe  bananas, don't throw them out just yet. Use it to your benefit; try using it to prepare a bouncy yummy banana cake! Here's how it’s done:

How To Prepare Homemade Ice Cream

  • 5-6 small sized bananas
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 125g butters
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoonful vanilla flavour
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 level tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoonful lime/lemon (optional)
Method of Preparation:
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a clean bowl and set aside.
  • Remove the banana from its peels and mash. Add the lime/lemon, mix and set aside.
  • Pour the sugar and butter in a mixing bowl and cream on high speed using the whisk hook of your electric mixer. Do this in a bowl using a turning stick in the absence of a mixer. Mix until creamy, light in colour and fluffy. Remember to mix in one direction.
  • Break the egg into a bowl and whisk. Make sure to break the eggs one at a time into a smaller bowl first before transferring into a bigger one; this is to prevent losing all the eggs if some eggs turn out to be bad.
  • Add the egg and vanilla flavour to the creamed butter and mix (on low speed if using a mixer). Afterwards, add the banana and mix. Finally, add the milk and mix.
  • Add the flour and mix into a smooth batter. Add the flour little at a time until completely incorporated.
  • Grease a baking pan (a 6 inch pan would do just fine for this) of any shape, sprinkle with flour and dust out the excess flour. Pour the cake batter into the pan and bake in a pre-heated oven at 170°C. In the absence of an electric or gas oven, you can bake successfully using the local oven method (I’ll show you this method in subsequent posts).
  • This should bake under 45-60 minutes depending on the size of the cake. Insert a skewer or fork or toothpick or neat broomstick into the middle of the cake to check if its cooked. A moist fork implies the cake isn't done and if dry, it implies the cake is completely baked
  • Lastly, take it out and allow to cool before serving!

If you want to ice it, then you can go ahead. But it can still be served  even without the icing!
To prepare banana cake for commercial use, multiply the quantity of ingredients by the number of people available to consume it.
