How To Prepare Pizza At Home

Seriously, pizza is one of those foods I can travel miles to buy! Recently, I thought of learning it to start preparing my very own super delightful pizza instead of going far and spending huge money just to get it. Trust me, pizza is a great snack and can even be taken as a meal. It's alarming how much people crave it these days.

Thank God for Google, I got to learn the pizza recipe and I was able to make some for myself! Its so simple that you can actually close your eyes while making it. I want to share the homemade pizza recipe here cause I can remember getting such request before. Pizza comprises of the pizza dough and the toppings. So, Ill begin with the recipe for the toppings.

How to prepare pizza toppings:
There are actually no restrictions to the toppings you can use on your pizza. You can go as far as you please but you shouldn't add too much vegetable or other stuff that have the tendency to release water when in contact with heat to avoid pizza becoming waterlogged.
Here's what you need for your pizza toppings:
- Tomato puree.
- Cheese (Nigerian cheese-wara)
- Vegetable oil
- Chicken (chopped/grated)
- Beef (chopped/minced).
- Green leaves
- Green pepper
- Sweet corn
- Fresh tomatoes(sliced)
- Onion (sliced)

Tomato puree and cheese are the most important and general ingredient for making the pizza toppings. Remember, there are no restrictions to pizza toppings and you can add as much variety as you want but don't be too extreme so your pizza can come out fine. Whatever toppings you choose to use, make sure you:
Cook the meat, chicken, beef, etc with seasoning and onion and then chop or mince
- Chop the cheese
- Set aside

How to prepare pizza dough:
The tricky part of a pizza is the dough and its very important cause it contribute largely to that refreshing taste.
Here's what you need for your pizza dough:
- 4 level cups all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/3 cups lukewarm water

Method of preparation:
- Pour the water into a mixing bowl, add yeast and sugar. Leave for few minutes to foam; this indicates the yeast is active.
- Add salt to flour, mix and add to the yeast solution. Also, add the vegetable oil.
- Mix with the whisk hook at low speed (if using a mixer) for about 4 minutes. Mix in a bowl if using your hand for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer onto a floured surface (rolling board) and knead for 12 minutes if using hand. If using a mixer, change to the dough hook and spin at low/moderate speed for about 10 minutes. Add more flour if wet/sticky.
- Form into a ball and grease with vegetable oil using a brush or coat the inside of a bowl with oil and then rub the dough over the oil such that the entire dough is greasy.
- Wrap in a cellophane or airtight container and leave to rise for a minimum of 1 hour before use. You can also store in the freezer till ready to use.

So, we've got our toppings and dough ready, lets get our pizza rolling!
